FIRST, I MUST MAKE A CONFESSION…
After much procrastination, hesitation, & first post jitters, I’ve finally worked up the nerve to start a blog & follow through by writing my first post. I must confess this endeavor came with challenges that I wasn’t necessarily prepared for. I didn’t realize how much time & effort went into starting a blog & I inevitably found myself down a rabbit hole of informational posts & blog “do’s and don’ts” articles. By the end of informational blog journey, I was so wrapped up in all of that excess material that it even further delayed me in getting started.
As with most people who choose to plant a little piece of themselves out into the Internet realm, it comes with its own set of vulnerabilities. There were countless hours spent staring at my blank computer screen or at a fresh notebook page just waiting for the words to come spilling out, but even after religiously jotting down my many ideas, when it came time to write, nothing was coming to me. Shortly following my writer’s block episode, I had the existential crisis-type reaction where tears were shed thinking about the blog itself. I second- guessed my purpose, telling myself that my writing or content would never be good enough & that no one would pay any mind to what I had to say.
And that’s the irony isn’t it? We are compelled by some force greater than ourselves to create content to put out into the world because it gives us joy to share it & hopefully, in return, it provides joy to those who read it. But, instead, we turn this positive creative outlet into a negative activity riddled with self-doubt & reservation. And sometimes, it transforms into writing content that sacrifices yourself & your voice for the “likes” & the blog traffic.
Instead of worrying myself sick over constructing my first blog post & trying to make it “perfect,” I’m going to share my whole self & also share what you can expect to see here on the blog!

To travel is to live...

For those who like to wander, this one’s for you. I am a huge travel lover & try to travel as much as I can. When I travel, it is important to me to experience the history of that destination. In fact, one of my main purposes & reasons for travel is rooted in my love of history. I typically gravitate towards destinations that hold a specific interest for me, whether that be a captivating historical event or even an appealing era of history. So, you can be sure that I will be sharing my pictures, recommendations, & experiences, as well as the history related to the specific areas I have traveled in hopes that it inspires you to visit. And by all means, I encourage you to share your travel destinations & experiences with me!
Food fare from bygone eras & mystical realms

I am not going to reinvent the wheel by sharing recipes like “101 Ways to Use your Air Fryer,” (while I love my air fryer, I don’t love it enough to write about it). However, as I mentioned earlier, I am quite the history buff, fantasy novel fanatic, & I do a bit of dabbling in the realm of video gaming, as well. But, what I AM going to write about & share, is the food from all of these subjects. Some of what I find most fascinating about history, fantasy novels, & gaming lore is the cuisine. I don’t plan on going rogue and writing my own recipes (but who knows?!) , but I do hope to share my experience in cooking these remarkable dishes. While I don’t have a roaring, fire-stoked oven like Henry VIII’s Hampton Court Palace, I do plan on sharing these dishes complete with a few tweaks here & there for the modern peasant trying to cook a dish fit for a royalty
Sustainable Living

Sustainable living & the “Zero Waste” movement have been topics that have been circulating for some time around magazine & the Internet. With the dawn of Pinterest, it is something I only just stumbled upon it recently. The basis of sustainable living & the zero waste movement is a focus on waste prevention & the redesign of resources so that our products are reused rather than thrown away. The overall goal being that no trash is sent to landfills, incinerators, or the ocean.
I am in no way living a full zero-waste lifestyle, especially living in a culture that sells products geared towards convenience. But, I am trying to take small steps to reduce the amount of waste I produce. You can expect to see order unboxings & tips & tricks I’ve found to more simply & to produce less waste. I’ve also scoured the Internet by reading reviews, researching & trying zero-waste products to potentially incorporate into my lifestyle. I am hoping that by posting product reviews & zero-waste lifestyle strategies, this will inspire others to buy products & take steps to reduce their waste production (and hopefully you’re willing to share your tips & tricks too!)
Do It Yourself

In addition to adopting a more zero waste approach to my lifestyle, I have also done a fair amount of reading about DIY products & projects that will inspire a more health conscious lifestyle while still cutting down on the amount of trash your household produces.
And finally.... getting real

I know most of this blog is fairly whimsical & focuses a lot on fantasy, magic, & realms of old, but sometimes it’s important to just get real. We’re all humans. We all experience the emotional spectrum, whether it be joy, sorrow, or anything in between. I think it is so important to investigate those feelings & know that others share them too. When I struggle with some tough emotions, reading blogs from bloggers who were going through the same things really help me when it feels difficult to pull myself out of the black hole, so my wish is that my words help others know they’re not alone. I hope that it also encourages you to share your experiences with me too!
Until next time…
